Alonzo Goodman is the Whitman County sheriff and Frankie's protector since high school days. But, the two are at odds lately since Frankie decided to become a newsy. And, in Deep Bitter Roots, Alonzo not only has to keep Frankie in check, he has to worry about her Aunt CeCe, too. Frankie's flower-child aunt, stationed in the bakery for an extended stay, doesn't exactly conform to Wisconsin norms, keeping the good sheriff on his toes.
